# Tapli — QR menus and table ordering for restaurants

Tapli turns a restaurant's menu into a scannable QR page that guests open on their own phone, browse
in their own language, and — on the Pro and Business plans — order and pay from, without installing
anything. It is built and operated by **Tapli Oy** in Finland.

## Who it is for

Independent restaurants, cafés, bars, food trucks, kiosks, pop-up stalls and hotels — mostly in
Europe, where EU allergen declaration is a legal requirement and multilingual menus matter for
tourist traffic.

## How it works

1. **Import the menu.** Paste the venue's website URL, upload a PDF, or photograph a paper menu. AI
   extracts every dish, price and category and shows a review screen before anything is saved. Items
   can also be added by hand.
2. **Label and translate.** Tag each item with any of the 14 declarable EU allergens plus dietary
   tags (vegan, halal, gluten-free, keto). An AI pass can fill these in from the item's name,
   description and ingredients. DeepL translates the whole menu — item names, descriptions, allergen
   badges, filter chips and UI strings — into 20+ languages in one pass.
3. **Print the QR code.** One code per venue, and optionally one per table. Colours and a centre logo
   are configurable.
4. **Guests scan, order and pay.** The menu opens instantly in the phone's browser. Guests filter by
   allergen, diet, calories or protein, add items to a cart, and either pay by card or wallet through
   Stripe or choose pay-at-table.
5. **Orders reach the kitchen.** New orders appear on the dashboard and on the Kitchen Display the
   moment they are placed, with station routing on Pro and above.

Most venues are live in under 30 minutes. There is no hardware to install and no app for guests to
download.

## What Tapli is not

Not a POS or till system. Not a delivery marketplace. Not a reservations system. Not a website
builder. Not a developer platform — there is no public API, SDK or MCP server, and the `/api/*`
routes on tapliapp.com are internal to the product.
